📜 Terms of Service

            The short version: Be kind. Use Story Talk for practice, creativity, and supportive conversation. Don't use it to harm yourself or others. Your content is yours.
        

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Story Talk ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Story Talk is a platform for AI-supported practice, creative storytelling, and reflective conversation. The Service includes:

Conversations with AI personas and guides
Practice tools for real-world skills, such as preparing for hard workplace conversations
Sessions with human coaches, offered as separate paid engagements
Private writing and journaling tools
Interactive storytelling and games
Device-to-device transfer and coach sharing of your own data, at your choice

3. Age Requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to use Story Talk. By using the Service, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

4. Account and Sign-In

Sign-in is provided through your Google account; keep that account secure
You are responsible for activity under your account
You must provide accurate information

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Story Talk for:

Practicing real conversations and skills
Creative writing and storytelling
Personal reflection and journaling
Supportive conversation, learning, and exploration

You agree NOT to use Story Talk for:

Any illegal activity
Generating content that sexualizes minors
Planning or facilitating violence or harm
Harassment, abuse, or threats against any person
Generating malware, spam, or deceptive content
Attempting to bypass safety measures
Impersonating others without consent
Commercial use without authorization

6. AI Limitations

            Important: Story Talk's AI personas exist for practice, creative, and supportive purposes. The AI is not a therapist, doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor, and practice conversations are rehearsal, not professional advice. If you are in crisis, please contact appropriate professional services.
        

AI responses may sometimes be inaccurate, inappropriate, or unhelpful. We work continuously to improve the Service but cannot guarantee perfect responses.

7. Coaching Services

Human coaching sessions are offered as separate paid engagements with defined scope. Coaches provide practice guidance based on professional experience; they do not provide therapy, legal, medical, or financial advice. If you share a practice session with your coach, they may read what you shared for the duration of the share period.

8. Your Content

Ownership: You retain ownership of all content you create using Story Talk, including conversations, practice sessions, stories, and journal entries.

Storage: Your content is stored on your device. You can export it to a file you keep. Copies you explicitly share to our server (for a coach or a device transfer) are held for no more than 14 days.

Export: You can export your data at any time. If you stop using the Service, your locally stored content remains yours.

9. Payment and Credits

Coaching engagements are one-time purchases with stated scope and price; they are not subscriptions
Continued AI practice after an engagement runs on practice credits we grant to your account
Credits are measured by AI usage and have no cash value; they are not transferable
If your credit runs out, your coach or our team can add more; there is no automatic recurring charge
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time; your on-device content remains yours.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, StoryTalk, LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States.
